Updating is a critical factor in any program’s management as it helps it to keep your computer protected against the latest cyber-threats. We will now cover how to update your product! First, you’ll want to start up the ‘Control Panel’; it is from here that you can manipulate and personalize the program to fit you.
The image is the standard ‘Control Panel’ homepage. Updating CA Antivirus is now even easier with the easy to understand interface that allows you to navigate the software quickly and with little fuss.
CA is unique in that there is no need for you to manually check for updates. Whenever there is a new update available you will be offered with a message similar to that on our screen. The message reads (By standard) “Your computer is not fully secure!… “. This notifications lets you know about a number of things, these could range from things such as detected faults or postponed scans to available or missed updates. Simply click the ‘Fix Now’ button to see what CA has found.
The notification, as you can see, informs us that there are updates available and needing to be applied along with a postponed scan. You can select or deselect functions you want to carry out at a later date by clicking the box next to the item. This guide only covers updating, but the CA smart guide can aid in issues such as scans and quarantine management. When you’re ready, click ‘Fix Now’.
If this is your first time updating the software, the update could take quite a while depending on your internet speed and current version of the program in question.
Once this is finished the program may ask your permission to restart the computer. As with before, simply close/ save all open programs and documents and select ‘Reboot Now’. If you don’t want to restart just yet you can select ‘Reboot Later’ and the updates will be applied when you next power-off your machine.
Remember, you can always check whether your software is up-to-date by starting up the Control Panel and observing the notification panel in the upper area of the window.
